Creating Visual Assets for a Company Manifesto β€” From Text to Images

Key Takeaway

We turned the Pyratz Operating Code β€” our company culture manifesto β€” into 6 visual assets using AI image generation, evolving from generic corporate imagery to on-brand cosmic visuals through iterative prompt refinement.

The Problem

We wrote the Pyratz Operating Code. Six principles that define how we build, invest, and operate. Words on a page.

Words on a page don't get shared. They don't get pinned in Slack channels. They don't make people stop scrolling on LinkedIn.

I needed each principle to have a visual identity. Something that captures the energy of "Bold Exploration" or "Relentless Iteration" without resorting to generic corporate clip art. A rocket ship for exploration. A recycling arrow for iteration. Please.

Custom illustration would cost $500-1,000 per piece from a decent illustrator. $3,000-6,000 for the set. Plus 2-3 weeks of back-and-forth to get the tone right. For internal culture assets that might change next quarter.

The Solution

AI image generation with a space/cosmic theme. Each of the 6 principles gets a unique visual that's part of a cohesive series β€” same aesthetic, different subject matter.

The theme choice was deliberate: PyratzLabs' brand centers on exploration, building in uncharted territory, long-term thinking. Space imagery is literally that metaphor.

The Process (with code/config snippets)

The six principles and their visual concepts:

yamlShow code
operating_code:
  - principle: "Bold Exploration"
concept: "Lone spacecraft approaching an uncharted nebula"
  - principle: "Relentless Iteration"
concept: "Supernova in stages β€” collapse, explosion, new star formation"
  - principle: "First-Principles Thinking"
concept: "Stripping a planet to its core β€” layers peeled away to reveal structure"
  - principle: "Speed Over Perfection"
concept: "Meteor shower β€” many fast-moving objects, some burning bright"
  - principle: "Data-Driven Instinct"
concept: "Star map with constellation lines overlaid β€” pattern recognition"
  - principle: "Build to Last"
concept: "Ancient galaxy, spiral arms fully formed, stable and massive"

First attempt prompts were too literal:

View details
# V1 β€” Too generic
"A spaceship exploring the universe, colorful nebula, stars, space theme"

Result: looked like a sci-fi book cover from the 90s. No brand coherence. No gravitas.

The iteration process β€” this is where the value actually lives:

View details
# V2 β€” Added style constraints
"Lone matte-black spacecraft approaching an uncharted nebula.
Deep space environment, minimal stars. Nebula in deep navy and electric blue
tones. Spacecraft small in frame β€” emphasizing vastness of the unknown.
Cinematic composition, anamorphic lens feel. No text. Dark, moody,
high contrast. Digital art, trending on ArtStation."

# V3 β€” Final (added brand-specific refinements)
"Lone angular spacecraft, dark gunmetal finish, approaching a vast
nebula rendered in PyratzLabs brand colors β€” deep navy (#0a1628),
electric blue (#3b82f6), subtle gold (#d4a843) highlights.
Composition: spacecraft in lower-left third, nebula filling upper-right.
Negative space in center. Cinematic, anamorphic bokeh on distant stars.
Ultra-wide aspect ratio 21:9. Hyperrealistic digital art. No text overlays."

Three versions per principle. V1 was always too generic. V2 got the composition right. V3 nailed the brand.

The Results

MetricCustom IllustrationAI Generated
Cost per image$500-1,000$0
Total project cost$3,000-6,000$0
Time to completion2-3 weeks1 day
Iterations per image2-3 (with illustrator)3-5 (instant)
Brand coherenceDepends on illustratorControlled via prompt
Prompt versions exploredN/A18 total (3 per principle)
Final quality (1-10)8-97-8

Honest assessment: a skilled illustrator would produce higher-quality individual pieces. But the speed-to-quality ratio is inverted. 80% quality at 5% of the time and cost is the right trade for culture assets that evolve with the company.

The images now live in our Notion wiki, onboarding deck, and LinkedIn posts. They get more engagement than any stock photo we've ever used.

Try It Yourself

  1. Write your principles/values as clear single sentences
  2. Choose a unifying visual theme (cosmic, architectural, natural, geometric)
  3. Map each principle to a specific scene β€” be concrete, not abstract
  4. Iterate prompts in 3 rounds: composition β†’ style β†’ brand-specific
  5. Use the same color palette and style constraints across all prompts for series coherence

Culture isn't a document. It's a signal. Make it visible.
